If you’ve ever looked at your yarn stash and thought, “What can I make with all these leftovers?” – this pattern is for you. The Leopard Print Stashbuster Blanket was born from a desire to create something bold, beautiful, and totally stash-friendly. I wanted a design that could pop no matter what colours were chosen, and leopard print felt like the perfect solution – instantly recognisable, effortlessly cool, and endlessly customisable.

This blanket was crocheted using scraps from two of my other designs – the Aphrodite Bobble Stitch Blanket (creamy neutrals) and the Beautiful Bugs Blanket (rich jewel tones of gold, teal, and plum). The result? A wild mix of texture and colour that makes each leopard spot feel totally unique – just like the real thing!

But it’s not just about the looks – the overlay mosaic crochet technique used in this pattern is beginner-friendly and highly satisfying. You only ever work with one colour per row, there’s no carrying yarn or changing colours mid-row, and the chart-based pattern makes it easy to customise the blanket to any size.

🐆 5 Fun Facts About Leopards & Leopard Print:

  1. No two leopards have the same spots! Each animal has a unique pattern, just like the varied look of this stashbusting design.

  2. Leopard print has been a fashion staple for centuries, symbolising everything from royalty to rebellion – now it’s a crochet statement, too!

  3. Leopards are stealthy and adaptable, thriving in many habitats. Like this design, they blend in anywhere – from neutral home palettes to bold, modern colour schemes.

  4. In the wild, leopards can carry prey twice their body weight up into trees. That’s strong – just like the structure and texture of overlay mosaic crochet.

  5. Leopard print never really goes out of style – and neither will this blanket. It’s timeless, bold, and totally handmade.

Overlay Mosaic Crochet Basics
