The Geometric Stashbuster Blanket was designed with one very specific moment in mind — that slightly quieter, post-Christmas period when the decorations come down, budgets are a little tighter, and our yarn stashes are… well… still very full 😄

I wanted to create a blanket that required zero new yarn purchases, making it a cosy, creative reset for the start of the year. This design is all about turning those leftover skeins and orphaned balls into something beautiful, intentional, and satisfying to crochet.

For my sample, I dipped into my own stash and chose a mix of pinks and purples — some of my absolute favourite colours. I loved watching the palette come together organically, letting the yarn I already had guide the final look of the blanket rather than starting with a rigid colour plan. It’s a brilliant reminder that stashbusting doesn’t mean “making do” — it can still feel joyful, creative, and very you.

This pattern also marks something extra special — it’s the launch pattern for the Elimee Designs Cosy Blanket Club, hosted over on Patreon. Inside the membership, I’ll be sharing new mosaic crochet blanket patterns every other month, alongside cosy community perks like Sip & Stitch sessions, exclusive content, and behind-the-scenes peeks into my design process.

The Geometric Stashbuster Blanket was the January/February 2026 membership design (released as a crochet along 🥳), and if you’d like to learn more about the club, I’d love for you to pop over to my Patreon page for all the details.

5 Fun Facts About Stashbusting

  1. It saves money – Using yarn you already own means no extra spend, which is especially welcome after the festive season.

  2. It’s more sustainable – Stashbusting reduces waste, makes use of forgotten yarn, and lowers the demand for new production.

  3. It encourages creativity – Working with what you have often leads to unexpected (and beautiful!) colour combinations.

  4. It clears space – Finishing projects with stash yarn frees up physical and mental space — fewer half-used skeins hanging around.

  5. Every stash tells a story – Each yarn often holds a memory of a past project, making stashbusting blankets extra meaningful.

I’d absolutely love to see how your Geometric Stashbuster Blanket is coming along.
