After several lovely messages during the Darling Dachsund Blanket CAL asking when I might create a cat-themed version, I was inspired to get designing. Over the next few months, the idea for the Purrfect Cat Blanket evolved from concept to ready-to-crochet pattern. Of course, getting a pattern from start to finish takes time — I need to crochet the sample, have it tested, make edits, and ensure the instructions are clear for everyone. I’m thrilled to finally be able to share it with you!

When I first started experimenting with colours online, I ended up with a palette very similar to the Darling Dachsund Blanket. While they would have looked beautifully complementary, I wanted this blanket to stand on its own. Instead, I embraced the autumn vibes I was crocheting in and settled on a cosy palette of orange, red, brown, and cream — perfect for snuggling up with as the days get cooler.

This CAL will be hosted inside the Cosy Blanket Club on Patreon, where members enjoy a host of fun perks including exclusive patterns, Sip & Stitch sessions, discount codes, voting rights on future designs, and more. Joining is easy, and you’ll be welcomed into a friendly, supportive crochet community full of fellow blanket lovers.

What is a CAL?

A CAL, or Crochet Along, is a fabulous community event where crocheters across the globe work on the same pattern simultaneously. It unfolds in stages, providing the perfect opportunity to share your progress and inspire fellow crafters.

How will this CAL work?

Starting March 9, 2026, a new section of the blanket will be released on the every Monday for 8 weeks (inside the Cosy Blanket Club).

Prefer to watch rather than read? 🎬 I’ve put together a CAL intro video that walks you through everything — from joining and materials to a closer look at the design. Grab your hook and yarn and watch along!

5 fun facts about our feline friends:

  1. Cats can make over 100 different sounds, while dogs make around 10.

  2. A cat’s whiskers are roughly as wide as its body — they help measure gaps and spaces.

  3. Domestic cats sleep for an average of 12–16 hours a day.

  4. Cats have a “righting reflex” that allows them to twist mid-air and land on their feet.

  5. Each cat’s nose print is unique, just like a human fingerprint.

I’d absolutely love to see how your Purrfect Cat Blanket Blanket is shaping up. You’re very welcome to share your progress in the Elimee Designs Facebook Group, where you can post photos, ask for help, and cheer each other on. If you’d rather share on your own social media, don’t forget to use #PurrfectCatBlanket so I (and other makers!) can admire your work and follow along with your journey.
